Description
The Office of Diversity and Inclusive Community Development provides programming, support, trainings and community outreach for the Manning College of Information and Computer Sciences (CICS).
Our office is seeking multiple student workers to assist with various Diversity initiatives during the academic year.
Students must be welcoming, engaging, helpful, positive, a team player, and must always positively represent the Office of Diversity and Inclusive Community Development and the College to various internal and external constituents. As representatives of our office, it is important to maintain a professional, respectful demeanor on-line and in-person.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties:
• Assist with the creation and implementation of diversity & inclusion trainings and events.
• Create and post marketing/advertisements for events.
• Participate in diversity & inclusion events and programs.
• Participate in student organization meetings as needed.
• Provide administrative support for the Office of Diversity & Inclusion (e.g. write and respond to emails, compile notes during meetings, create forms such as surveys and agendas, copying, etc.).
• Attend professional development events and trainings as assigned.
• Post to and maintain Social Media sites (Slack, Facebook, etc.).
• Assist with collecting, entering, and organizing data.
• Assist with the set-up and clean-up for meetings and events sponsored by the Office of Diversity & Inclusion.
• Maintain confidentiality as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Excellent customer service skills and a welcoming demeanor.
• Integrity and dependability.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of, and commitment to, diversity and inclusion principles (inclusion, equity, respect, dignity, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous experience in a leadership role.
• Experience in planning and/or organizing.
• Previous experience in training and/or communications.
• Previous projects, studies, and/or research in a diversity and inclusion topic.
