Creative Writing Instructor InfinityEd Program CEO/Director || Varna Naik Creative Writing Program Development & Instruction | Toni Brennan InfinityEd is based in Amherst, Massachusetts on Pocumtuc land— provides online and personalizing tutoring programs to elementary, middle school, high school, and college-level students based on their area of need or interest. The Creative Writing department has been established and seeks to expand in search of 3 Instructional Tutors with experience teaching, facilitating, and engaging in Creative Writing spaces such as classrooms, workshops, project-based learning, and individual online tutoring. Our three programs are described briefly below: SPRK (Seasonal Program of Reflection for Kiddos) is our youth-centered program that focuses on the introduction to creative writing and what creative outlets students can have in the form of writing (short-term program). Creative Storytelling for Writers is our age-inclusive intermediate creative writing program that centers on the purpose of storytelling and creating a vivid world, characters, setting, etc. in short-form fiction (mid-length program). Novel Kickstarter is our high school- college age advanced creative writing program that centers the fiction in the long-form; a novel, novella, or prose narrative. The purpose of this program is to assist our up-and-coming authors in creating a practice and executing a full-length novel (Long-term program). ***Note as you decide which program your area of skills and interest fall into applying for, you are making a commitment to that specific program’s timeline, if selected. (We cannot hire folks unable to commit to a full program term.) Tutors' Duties and Responsibilities: Reviewing Program Development and offering open feedback as this program shifts and changes to meet student needs and interests. Creating lessons based on the Program and based on students' areas of need and interest. Assisting students with weekly assignments, projects, research, and other academic tasks revolving around their writing goals. Working with students to help them understand key concepts within Creative Writing. Teaching skills to improve Creative Writing performance, including writer’s block strategies, understanding of literary devices, revision and editing skills, and practicing and establishing a creative routine. Conducting Question-Based Commentary for critiques and revisions, in consecutive read-aloud, 1-on-1 portions during sessions. Showcasing note-taking skills through weekly session notes being recorded in a living document to be shared. As well as QBC documenting their works in progress. Providing students positive and constructive feedback. Compassion and empathy are at the forefront of our student's best interests in terms of emotional and physical capability and availability. Skills and Qualifications: Thorough knowledge of Creative Writing academia and expertise in facilitation of subject areas. Strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly explain challenging concepts, provide instructions and deliver feedback. Ability to motivate and encourage students to improve their academic performance using effective goal-setting strategies. Creativity and flexibility in order to personalize their learning approach for individual students. Patience and compassion for students as they develop skills and improve their performance. We require a minimum of one year of experience within the field and background checks (depending on medium; in-person vs remote).
