UMass Amherst Old Chapel is looking for an outgoing, customer service-focused Event Assistant for the academic year, summer months, and beyond. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone interested in experience running exceptional events or is interested in the hospitality industry. Old Chapel is a fast-paced events venue and is seeking a flexible individual who excels at being multidisciplinary is comfortable wearing many hats. Essential Functions: • Opening and closing procedures to safely secure the building to provide a safe environment for clients and guests • Operate audio visual equipment during events • Communicate effectively with campus partners and external vendors • Pre-Event production and room set up • Schedule and perform walkthroughs of the venue for upcoming clients and events Other Functions: • General building maintenance such as vacuuming, dusting, plant care, and window washing Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure): • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and detail-oriented skills • At least 2 years of event or hospitality experience • Mac and PC proficient in switching between systems • Proficient in Microsoft and Google Workspace Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure): • Strong technical and audio skills with the ability to run a complete sound system (training provided) • Outgoing nature and willingness to assist guests and clients • Excellent collaborator and organizational skills Physical Demands/Working Conditions: • Ability to lift 15-20 lbs.
