Information for Becker College Veterinary and Animal Science Transfer Students

The Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences at UMass Amherst offers the Bachelor of Science degrees in Animal Science (with concentrations in Animal Biotechnology and Research and Animal Management), Pre-Veterinary Science, and Veterinary Technology. The Veterinary Technology major is accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA); students in the Vet Tech program spend their first two years at the Amherst campus, and complete the remainder of their studies at the Mount Ida Campus of UMass Amherst in Newton.

For Bachelor's Degree Students
If you are a Becker College student currently enrolled and in good standing in the B.S. Veterinary Science or B.S. Veterinary Technology program, UMass Amherst is pleased to consider you for expedited transfer admission into comparable programs in the Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences.

For Associate's Degree Students
UMass Amherst does not offer Associate’s degrees in the veterinary and animal sciences. However, for those Becker College students currently enrolled in the A.S. Veterinary Science (Animal Care) and A.S. Veterinary Technology programs who are in good standing and who wish to switch their course of study to a Bachelor’s degree in these fields, UMass Amherst will consider you for expedited admission as well. Such students are strongly advised however, that this switch would not earn them an A.S. degree en route to the B.S. degree, and are strongly advised to explore instead completing their A.S. degree in an AVMA-accredited program. Four of the Commonwealth's community colleges offer such programs.
